p.s. Wyoming will put up a "No High Profile Light Vehicles" warning on their digital signs over I-80 when the wind is gusting over 40 mph (I think that's the mark). BUT, it's on the honor system. Nothing or no one is going to check it or enforce. However, woe is you if you try it and end up flipped over in the ditch. For starters, if it's winter time, your truck will stay there until the snow and ice and wind relent long enough to retrieve it. I saw the same truck off in the median for a couple of months one year. Also, the tow bill you'll pay pales in comparison to the fine you'll receive.

I agree with chaining up in practice session at 75 degrees sunday while layed over somewhere, but, I also have the tendancy to just "do it as I go". Which is the way I did it the first time I chained. I was lucky enough (over Donner) to have the driver next to me say, I'll help you if you help me. Flatbedders will do the same with rolling tarps sometimes. Chains need to be snug, drive at 25-30 mph and be advised you may chain several times over 200 mi stretch. Chains on then off then back on 45 mi down the highway ! And don't park on a slope in a truck stop (upslope) You may have to chain to get out of the parking spot in the morning where it snowed overnight. Now get out there and have fun ! ! !
