The most inconsiderate thing about them I believe is that I have to breath that smoke in too. And yes no matter how hard you try your going to end up around it somehow. If you want to smoke that's fine with me but please keep it to yourself and your butts. A guy this past year had his whole field burnt up and all his hay because of someone throwing out thier cigarette butt. The cop let you off by only giving you $125 ticket. I don't wish bad on you but I hope you learned a lesson.

I've seen a lot of road side fires caused by them. Nothing worse riding in a convertible with the top down and then get hit in the face by one.

I have seen many too. Littering and a safety hazard.

    You were a lucky litterbug.

Littering in this beautiful country is bad enough. Throwing litter that is on fire is inexcusable.

Last year in Texas this would have gotten you 1 year in jail...... a smoldering butt would have been on your rear (litterly in the jail house:biggrin_2559:)

Also I have seen several stories of guys hauling hay and the entire trailer bursting into flames from a ciggerette butt..... you have an ashtray for a reason :biggrin_25525:

In June 2008 7 houses and 20 condo units (the last one was mine) burned to the ground from a cigarette someone flicked out on I-5 northbound in Stockton CA. It was a total loss for me and many others who did not have insurance on our homes. The 2 girls renting from me lost their entire possessions too.

When you toss things out the window you have to make sure there are absolutely no witnesses. Don't throw your McDonalds bag out with the receipt in there where you paid for the meal with a credit/debit card either, they will track you down- I heard.

I don't smoke and never have. But I got stopped once the cop thought I thru a lite butt out. That took me 30 minutes to convene him that it wasn't mine. The fine 750.00

wow i bet he is sry he posted that. People love thier soapboxes dont they. In the 70's everyone was driven home by the cops for drinking now it is a moral social issue. I was sent to the woodshed and whupped when daddy got home now a kid says i'll call social services on you. Dean Martin smoked on his show but he is evil now. I hope none of you are doing anything I will think is morally abhorrent next year when i a more politically correct

Why?! It doesn't matter what you think. Unless the general public agrees. It's kind of like mob action if you ask me. As for the guy that didn't have insurance on his home Uhm what were you thinking? I mean seriously what were you thinking?!

My wife and I had talked about adding the condo to our policy (we had just bought a brand new house and 2 brand new cars the year before) but we just never got around to it. Things were getting tight moneywise in the Spring of 2008, gasoline was above $4.50 a gallon. I had a long commute to the Bay Bridge from Stockton, I was almost losing money going to work every day. I had tried to sell the condo the previous summer but you will remember that was the beginning of the Great Recession and no one was buying. So I ended up renting the condo out at a $300 loss every month, there goes the money for the insurance. I had owned it since 1993. How about 'what was the guy who threw the cigarette out thinking???!!!'
