I live in Indiana 45 minutes east of Valparaiso.

Your in a good spot to be hired. Don't forget to keep your driving record clean and no accidents. After 6 months more jobs will open up. One and two years are the next big improvements for opportunities. UPS pays bank. Post office has good money and vacation.

I worked at cfi in 2008. Not comparing to western express, but they brought in more new people than the had trucks for. They would cut people during training for any mistake.

Solid advice. It’s my first CDL job so I’m new to the transportation industry. I’m going to try to get my year in and take it from there. I’ll be sure to be as respectful as possible and make sure I do my best not to burn any bridges!

    austinmike Thanks this.

I’m planning on moving to a tax free state at some point, western express is based out of Tennessee which is one of the state I’m most interested in moving to. But yes everyone I asked for a job did say they were hiring out of this area. My uncle worked for UPS for a really long time. He did well there. I’d go post office too. I’ve already got some government time in.

austinmike, 77fib77 and Numb Thank this.

My recruiter sent me a trainers number this morning. I called him but didn’t chat long because he’s on vacation. We’re aiming for Monday to link up. He said someone just stole all his tarps and straps so he wasn’t in the greatest mood and he said we need to go to Nashville to get more stuff. Oh boy! I hope he’s not still pissed on Monday!

    austinmike and 77fib77 Thank this.

Thank you, but I see no one even tried to counter it ... so must be true.

income tax free states aren't all that great, they usually jack up all the sales tax to replace it.

Except Nevada. Average sales tax is 4.6%
No sales tax on food at the grocery stores.
    No personal income tax.
Military discounts all over the place, such as Lowes and a dozen or so other places.
