Had this happen with my Class B CDL in Cali in 2015, it should be the same.
In Cali your CDL reverts back to a Class C until you self certify. Make sure you are near a fax machine when you make this call on Tuesday (Monday is a Holiday). Explain you have a current Medical, thought you sent it in (Just appease them), but you just found it it is not on file and you need to know if you can fax it in as you are working and need your CDL license, and DMV appointments are weeks out. They will not ask where you are working, I don't think they care. The person should give you their name and fax number, you will need to fax in the long form in it's entirety. Fax it in, wait 30 minutes, call them back and see if it has been updated. It should be updated and you will be good to go.

He can go to any DMV office ... no need for an appointment. Get there about 30 minutes before they close and you will be out of there in an hour, at most. Even going in the middle of the day, I've never take more than 90 minutes - Besides a trip is to the DMV is very entertaining. You get a cross section of humanity unlike you'll see anywhere else.

I'm in California and my last renew of my medical on the day before it expired, I was gonna mailed the copies long as I had the green card. The facility told me that I had to go to DMV directly because the process had changed. So that's exactly what I did. I drove straight to DMV and took care of it personally. If I was you, that's what I would do, walk in a local office and resolve your issue. If you call like mention above, good luck being on hold forever and hope you don't get dropped on the line and have to start over. Those state agencies couldn't careless if they loose you on the phone line.

This will NOT work. I asked the facility that if I could fax the paperwork, they said "NO", they want the "ORIGINALS". They claim that has been to much fraud and they wanted the original, that's why I had to drive to the local office personally.

I'm out of California myself, and when I get a new physical I personally go to DMV and turn it in. It's my licence and my lively hood I do not take chances with thinking some one else is going to do it for me. No that your medical is going to expire in a few months just do another physical now and bring it to DMV

DO NOT TRUST OTHERS TO MAIL COPY. DO IT YOURSELF!!!! What i do is take long form to company and have them copy it for their records then drive straight to dmv to turn it in. Not sure where in cali you live in but there us a commercial dmv in fontana off of valley st. Not sure what street but you can google it. Not as busy. Be in and out in less than half hour
