Think you might be stressing to much there bloke your licence should be reissued once you come up with a valid medical certificate.

California Commercial Driver License Self Certification

    CDL Helpdesk: 916-657-5771 or 916-657-5772

Fill it out. Take this to your Local DMV with your current (still good) medical forms. Explain that the 2nd one did not get on file with CA DMV for whatever reason.

Ask them to re-instate your CDL.

It is up to the CDL holder to make sure the DMV has the medical on File. I know that in NC if I look on my Driver Lic information online it does not show any Medical Information. I have asked the Head of the NC DMV to actually add this to the listed information so that the CDL holder can validate their information.

Make sure your Doctor is on the approved list.

@Mark Kling I just looked at that form, I was in a Commercial DMV Office in April (Had VETERAN added to CDL), turned in my new Medical as the old one was expiring soon, and I did not fill out that form. All I did was hand the Clerk the long form, she kept the original and gave me a copy. The date on the form is June 2016, I wonder why I did not have to use it.
@TTruckers I forgot to add, on May 16th, AB60 is in effect. AB60 requires Commercial Licensee's to provide proof of residency upon renewal in a DMV Office, reinstatement, change of class, adding or removing endorsements, or applying for a duplicate license. You need a utility bill, rent or mrorgage statement, to show you live at the address you gave.

    Full Compliance was in 2014

here is the information - Medical

I would talk to the head of that office and explain to him, since this is 2017 and DMV is supposed to be in full compliance with the FMCSA.

NOTE - If your medical is not on file with your DMV/State, and you have the forms, you can still be in violation of this regulation. A TTR driver did get cited for not being in compliance.

If you are a Cali resident and want to know if DMV has your current medical, you can always pay $2 and look at it online. I decided to pay the $2 to see what was on it. Note the Self Certification is blank, I have never filed out the form referenced, but it states my Medical is good.

You have to Self-Certify by FMCSA regulations. I would fill out the form and get it send in. They can downgrade your CDL to a car license if not on file.

I will ask them on Thursday, I have to take my grandson in for his driving test. I turned in my medical by hand at the end of March, I get a 1 year. Our fine friends in Oregon checked it last week during an inspection. The only reason I know he checked it, he said the system was really slow returning it. I doubt they would have let me drive off.

Glad to see it all worked out and your CDL is back in good standing. I was stopped at yet another scale this morning. I asked the CHP DOT guy if he could look and see if my medical was good or not. He let me see the screen, all they see is your license is valid, and when your current DOT Medical expires. They can't see if you self certified it or not. He just said all they care about is you have it, and the computer is good with it. For those wondering why I am always getting inspected, I help a buddy out who is a recovery agent, I never, or rarely, drive the same truck twice. I realize some on here don't care for what I do, but is a living, and very part time.
