I went in today and gave my 2 weeks notice since I work a local gig. 2 hours later my terminal manager calls me and tells me that it's slow that there is no point of me working the next 2 weeks. So basically I got fired. Is this legitamate?

Doesn't mean he fired you... I used to work for Conway freight in the Chicago area and they did the same exact thing anytime anyone put in notice... I wouldn't sweat it

In the trucking biz it's legimate and normal.happened to me with a company, you might think you're doing the right thing giving them a notice but in reality you're not.they could care less and it dosent look any better on your record either.they won't give potential employers a good recommendation based on that.

A 2 week notice is nothing more than a courtesy afforded the employer to give them an opportunity to find a replacement. Should the employer choose not to use that period doesn't mean you got fired, just means they don't want or need that time. You did your part and didn't quit without notice, nor should it reflect that way, however with the unscrupulous nature of many employers, especially in this industry, written evidence is strongly suggested to validate later discrepancies.

Post the company's name so others don't experience the same.

I never gave any company 2 weeks notice. Just line up the next gig and go to it when ready.

I gave notice on my previous job they just routed me in by the end of that week a full week early.

One of my former students that I just got on here did the same thing and they just did him the same way. He's on his way in a full week early. He gets a week vacation before taking a big step up in the world to where I am now.

Just look at it as an unexpected vacation before the new gig.
