Wait, do you work for Halvor Lines or Transport America? I can't tell.

I spoke with my recruiter as to why things were not at all like he said they would be. I put him on the spot, asking why my company screws drivers as bad as it does. He said, and I quote, "We don't like to call it screwing drivers, we like to call it maximizing company profits."

    Yea. Right.

Was this at Halvor or a different company?

Oh no, totally different company. I just was replying to the one member who said that their company called it "running their business." Ours called it "maximizing profit."

I use a hybridized version of those two statements., "I run my business to maximise profits" I work my one employee (me) like my livelihood depended on him.

Maybe if you made your employee a little happier you might be able to find a second one.:p

Double my employee count? I don't think that is a sustainable paradigm at this time. Of course I'd take Inga back in a heartbeat .:D

Lonesome, mjd4277 and gentleroger Thank this.

No holiday pay, no hometime pay, no sick pay, do not pay for parking, no hub miles (zip code to zip code). Driver manager told me I get a 1/2 cent raise after a year, she then told me 1 cent raise after a year. Terminal manager tells me .04 cents after a year.

I'm out from 4 to 6 weeks at a time and spend a few days home. My average miles are 1,742 per week and my average pay is $896 per week, that's gross. I don't take any insurance so my take home is about $700 a week. I don't refuse any loads and run as hard as the loads are available. Welcome to Halvor.
