A gallon of gas has 114,000 BTUs. A pound of propane has 20,000 BTUs. So 6 pounds is a little more than a gallon of gas. 20 pound propane cyclinder has 3.36 gallons of equivalent gas energy.

Somewhere in ttr about a year ago there was a trend on gens and a link to an outfit out of Florida that sold a little diesel unit. Had enough HP, and spare pulley that I was thinking of installing a compressor I have off an old jeep. Condenser, coils, controls, and coil fan all in good shape; coil/fan was about two inches bigger than the one mounted on a guys truck with a evolution. Think gen was around 2200.00, plus change.

You guy's better get c02 detector many people have die from gas generators cause c02 is the same weight as oxygen. A truck stop in ohio had three drivers die all in separate trucks from the same set up you are playing with. the danger is real and you will die in your sleep. We had a local man die in his camper running a generator twenty feet away by extension cord two other camper almost died. Also you can kill another driver with your fumes think what you doing all to save a buck could impact some one else.

Also co2 has a different molar mass (aka weight) than O2. Co2 is heavier than oxygen 44grams/mole , O2 is 32 grams/mole. -
Has any one priced a stand alone diesel generator with out the a/c unit hanging on it. Like a Kubota?

So what’s the consensus here?. I planned on getting a stand up a/c this year and taking out the passenger seat to build a custom organizer for the a/c and tools. I’ve heard the 2 hose ones were better but they don’t seem to stock those locally.
THEN @terryt had to bring up the gas exhaust again. Got me concerned a bit. I’ve ran a gas generator for going on two years now with different ac setups... don’t want to kill no one
What do y’all think about the stand up ac and extending the exhaust all the way back down the frame towards the tail lights, would that be enough? The way I run it now the exhaust already points back and I try to park by company trucks that idle all night. I have a co2 detecter... never went off
