I have a 2007 KW T600 and we use e-logs from XRS. Around the beginning of December the truck/driver suddenly starting generating a lot of hard brakes, probably 4 to 8 per day (as reported by XRS). At first I thought it was the truck brakes or the driver. We had the brakes checked out and they are fine. I've had multiple drivers on the truck and they all have hard breaks. There were only a handful of hard brake events for all of October and November.

What generates the hard brake fault and what could be causing all of these?

    thanks in advance.

Hard brakes are generated by the vehicle speed sensor. I do not know the threshold, but a quick enough deceleration rate triggers a hard brake event.

Have any of the drivers report speedometer issues? We had an 07 Pete that the driver said that the speedometer randomly drop speed when he shifted, but read correctly one he was back on the throttle. It was a loose trans yoke. It set a few hard brake events that week.

I'm working in debugging this with a driver. It seems it's happening when connecting/disconnecting. Almost like the gas pedal is to hard at the top/start.

I had a 2001 Classic with a 565 hp ISX, when ever I was light it would report hard braking events just from the strength of the engine brake.

With a driver? Just one? I know if he's trying to connect/disconnect in the winter the ice would make the tires spin then suddenly stop once grab traction.

I'm not a fan of any sensors or big brother type of surveillance. I understand that there is a need in case of litigation, but what did people used to do before all these sensors. Oh noes:

wait, i think he farted too loud in the sleeper.

The data log also shows this error from the ECM occasionally. Any ideas on what this means:
    Wheel-Based Vehicle Speed
    Engine #1
    Data Erratic, Intermittent Or Incorrect
    J1939 SPN 84 FMI 2

That is the vehicle speed sensor and it means just that, the signal is erratic, intermittent or incorrect. Check that the sensor is tight and see if the trans yoke is loose. I have see a bad wiring connection set that code to, but not as often as a loose yoke.

Does anyone know where the wheel speed sensor is on a kW T6, 2007?
