I agree with the Roku stick. If your cell speed is less than 2 Meg's per second the Roku will crash though. You can buy an HDMI adapter for most phones that mirrors the signal by wire to the tv. YOU MUST HAVE BETTER THAN 3 Mbps on the upload speed at the house though. I would recommend a 30 gig plan on the phone.

I have it on my Note 3. I love it. If it is set up like others have posted, not only can you watch live tv, you can watch your recordings on your home dvr....and, if you don't have unlimited data, you can transfer recorded shows off your dvr to your phone when your home. (Remember, standard non-hd movies are around 4 gig each on a dvd, not sure how much compression is used on movies transferred so it doesn't hog all your memory) If you want to connect some smartphones to your flat screen, a simple USB - HDMI adapter doesn't work. My S3 took an MHL to HDMI adapter, my Note 3 (as well as S4's, Note 4's and S5's) take an MHL 2.0 to HDMI. As for other phone manufacturers, I am not sure. A friend has a G3 that has a mini-HDMI port that he streams movies from phone to tv all the time.

30 gig? Only if you are a casual watcher. On a 34 I can burn between 10-15 gig. I am one of the people Verizon wants to get rid of. My monthly usage is in their top 2% for personal usage (and in non-business user) I have had months in the 175-180 gig range.

Just so you know. The grandfather clause as in Verizon is ONLY good for the phone you have. If you upgrade your phone you sign a new contract. If you keep your phone and change phone your number you must sign a new contract also. My niece works for Verizon in upper management.

Yes, you are correct. I forgot to mention that you can buy your own phone. My niece works for Verizon in upper management. She said that will go away in the near future also. People are using their phones for so much now and just flooding the available bandwidth.

Haven't been under a contract for 3 or 4 years. I buy phones at retail price (which is cheaper than upgrading and paying for a ginormous data plan, given the amount of data I use). Just got my Note 3 in the last 6 months, and data usage skyrocketed.

If they stop the ability to 'bring your own phone and grandfather in', they will lose customers...thus relieving bandwidth issues. Since TMO and Sprint are improving their 4g LTE networks at a faster pace, Verizon won't be that far out front in service...and then their customer dis-service protocols will cause customers to bail. I am one of those who would prefer to root my Android, but because of Verizon, they have all but eliminated all exploits that allow that...TMO and Sprint still have rootable and unlockable bootloaders so you can install custom ROM's...Verizon's latest OTA (4.4.4) eliminated the 'towelroot' exploit. Basically Verizon's restrictions have put a restrictor plate on a Lamborghini.
