Has the CDL permit written test changed any since last January?

I took my hazmat test last April and used the same cdl manual as back in 2003.So same test same manual I imagine only I think you'll have to take the test on a computer.

I took the Colorado hazmat test when I renewed my license last year... it really didn't seem any different than the one I took a number of years back. OTOH, being that the tests are on computer now, it is rather simple for the software to select a different set of questions for each applicant...

Whole lot of changes to things at the DMV. One thing I know for sure is that they dont give a hard copy CDL when you pass the final CDL Exam. You are issued a temporary paper CDL and the hard copy comes in the mail to Prime. This falls in line with what Ive experienced in other states that I have lived in. I always found it odd that MO DMV gave you the license right there in the office than in the mail... well thats no more

Very annoying for TNT trainers to have to get the trainees back to pick up the hard copy before the temporary one expires. Dont know if the paper one can be used to transfer to home state or if you have to wait for the hard copy.

Also hearing that students have to pass each step of the CDL test before moving on. If you fail any one part of either pre trip, or backing skills, you cant proceed with the other parts. Used to be if you failed pre trip they would let you take the other parts, and then retest the parts failed.

Student still allowed to retest, they just retest the section they failed and then move on to the next part.

Also hearing you are only allowed to fail a certain number of times the permit and the exam before the state cuts you off for 30 days. Not sure about that one.

Maybe someone here as a recent student can confirm that they dont give the permit test at Prime anymore. They take you down to the DMV and its on computer? One try per day?

The road test can only be failed 3 times. All others are subject to Prime's managers giving more chances. Most don't get more chances. Test anxiety might get you an additional test. Failing because you can't grasp the concept or remember the tasks or functions will send you home.
