Okat first time this has happened to me. I may be wrong on this. Lets say you 1, 500 of table 1 hazmat which requires placards for any quantity. Now you also have 700 lbs of table 2 hazmat on the same trailer loaded at the same location.

Does everything need placarded or just the table 1?

I have always been under the understanding that once you cross the 1, 001 lbs everything gets placarded.

Please include the actual regulation so I know.

1001 lbs of the same. If your two products are different and one goes over the limit, you placard to that one.

Some HazMat product cannot be around or shipped with another HazMat product. Your shipper should know this and your shipper should be giving you the Placards you need for your load. They are required to provide you the Placards and this should be marked on your paperwork.

I tried finding the regulation, but it's too dang late at nite! So you're gonna placard the table 1 product for sure. Then to be on the safe side, go ahead and placard the table 2 product. Even though it's under the gross weight limit, it's an exception...172.504(c).

Not to derail this thread, but the other day I had to load up a trailer with two HazMat classes. I think it was noneflammable gas and corrosives. According to the load segregation chart, I think I was supposed to use the "Dangerous" placard if the combined weight was 1,001 lbs or more. After I added up the numbers, it came up to exactly 1,000 lbs. I choose not to placard the trailer since I was one pound short. I think I did the right thing? I feel kind of stupid cause I got the endorsement, and I should know this. But usually our stuff is already placarded if I had to haul it.

The shipper is required to give you the correct Placards for your load. Most of the time they are right there where you get your paperwork.

must placard any quantity of table 1.

placard any table 2 hazmat over 1001 lbs. If two or more table 2 classes over 1001 lbs use the dangerous placards.

Check the segregation chart as not all hazmat classes are compatible.

poison 6.1 pg III? and food cannot be loaded onto the same trailer.

The Dangerous placard is a man's best friend in the LTL biz.

Dont dude, I whip out the redbook every weekend and I still get stumped at times. hazmat is no joke, so if you are unsure check the handbook man. Wont hurt a thing. I ask my supervisor at times if I am unsure.the hazmat test is just way too easy for all the complications and rules that go along with hazmat.

Isn't that the truth. The test has absolutely nothing to do with what we actually handle on a nightly basis. On top of that, some of the regs are ridiculous and totally contradictory like the Pa Pike tunnel rules.

I'm not sure, but I thought if you have any table 1 substance on board, it elevates all the table 2 items to table one and all must be placcarded.
