The only trouble with doubles is you have no control over the last trailer. As long as it follows you its about all you can hope for.

just do not make corrections (sudden ones at that) to your steering. just keep going forward. watch your speed. make no sudden stops.

on snow, reduce your speed, stay in the right lane, let all the super truckers pass you

Learn how to back the dolly up when it is hooked to the lead trailer and you will not have to manhandle it so much. Yeah it looks all easy to move on smooth level ground in the summer.

I actually saw a double 48' on 128 a couple months ago, no clue how he got off the pike with it, I wanted to follow him to watch the savage beating he probably got from the staties. But sadly I was going the other way.

Like G Anthony said, you have to resist the temptation to react like a normal semi. And the big difference between pups and a normal truck is a 53 isn't hinged in the middle so backing is much easier, and you only have one trailer to jack-knife if it gets out of control.

Make sure you know the weights on each trailer, you want the heavies in the front and light on the back, if it's only doubles you can learn to control an emty on the front and loaded in the rear but it takes pratice.

If you hauling triples never look at your rear trailer as your going down the road you can't compensate and you really don't want to see what's happening back there. Lol

Here in Michigan the reason they are called Michigan trains isn't because they are doubles but because they are so loud when they are on the road and are usually heavy all like a train coming through. Yesterday I am hauling heavy and get passed by one, with my radio up and windows down, it drowned out the radio.
