I enjoyed solo wild board - ran about 2800 miles, nights, paid motel each night then home for 2 days.

At 65-70 cpm - decent money. Don’t know why more guys don’t wanna do it.

Those 2 friends didn't live in South Florida. Fuel haulers in my area regularly advertise positions paying anywhere from $18 per hour to $850-1000 per week gross.

To deal with traffic, fuel racks, tiny gas stations and a rolling bomb 5ft behind you?.

Yeah, I'll stick to waiting for showers.

There's a song for OTR long haul drivers on YouTube:

OTR is not for everybody... everybody is different... if you have family, kids, you are social, like the companionship of others, etc, etc, try something different... Trucking is very diverse and it keeps changing very quickly... gotta adapt.
I am a female, did OTR for 11 straight years... used to stay on the road 3 to 4 months at a time... would take one week off at a hotel and then back on the road... and I LOVED IT! Even though I hated the HOS regulations, the electronic log, the lack of freedom in a company truck, the hardships of living in a cab with no kitchen, no bathroom, the lack of steady or no routine, etc, etc... I loved it! Cause I LOVE THE ROAD! And I am a lone ranger...
I HAVE NO FAMILY.... Actually, my life was to be on the road... picking up loads and delivering loads... and I made darn good money doing it...
Left OTR last year to be with my dying dad in Brasil and was there for 7 months... now I am back in the USA for a while but going back to Brasil again within a few months to sell properties and when I come back to the USA I plan on going OTR again... if everything goes according to my plans.... Shall see.
Good luck to you.. hope you find something or some outfit that fits you well... gotta enjoy what you do.
