I apologize, I thought you meant loading the fuel into the top of the tank lol.

I see some Gemini "love's" trailers have them. I guess they work if we only hauled Gas, Diesel, E85, and Jet Fuel. It may be a price thing, I'm sure they're more expensive per unit than the slide out holders.

To you guys putting duct tape on your placards, you're gonna get in trouble if the tape makes the placard even 1 centimeter shorter than the law requires. Better to use clear tape. Even better to use no tape. Prep the surface of the trailer with some water and wipe down with paper towels, the stick on placards will stay on good enough.

Had some placards recently, they were single peel back pieces, those placards did not want to come of at all. Prefer the ones which are 2 peel backed pieces. In four years never lost a peel and stick placard

The regulation states that you cannot obscure the area of the placard within the border. The border is defined by regulation as the white line on the placard. That gives you about 3/8".

I have hauled many hazmat loads and always used duct tape,DOT has never questioned it.As long as its not covering any of the letters and markings you're fine.Im sure clear tape would work just as well and for the ones worried about it then use clear tape.I've always used tape because sometimes the placards are hard to come off.I don't care for the lazy drivers who don't remove the placards once they are empty and drop the trl at a drop yard and let the next driver take the placards off.

300 doller per placard. This is not that big of a deal. Cops understand things happen. But as stated above always get an extra and clear tape them on. The fines are there for folks who try to transport with out placards.

It's not a big deal unless something outrageous happens then it's a major deal. Stranger incidents have happened so maybe not so outrageous. We take placarding very serious and are constantly checking because we know who gets blamed.

Just about everywhere in the country is bottom loading but believe it or not there are some places that still top load. I think ( I haven't been there in awhile.) Caliepte NV still has an old bulk plant that top loads both diesel and gas. I wouldn't want to do it but it's a very small town and they load every once in a while. It's not like they run every day. Sorry to get off topic.

Stickers come off pretty easy in the winter months, I always carried extra. Got caught once and explained the stickers werent stickin cause of the frost, and they let me go, but had to put a sticker on before leaving the scale.
