well to start with, I spent 7 months a Mercer.. I brought my own equipment with me and paid to have their name put on the side of my truck.. I'm also from SC.
You will have to get used to being a number on their dispatch list. ( ex. if you load in Columbia and unload in Houston. There may be 200 other Mercer trucks already there and you will have to wait till your number comes up before they will offer you a load.
Next.. If you have a load with room to add a partial , they will not allow you to load it unless you get permission from the agent .. when I was there 6/13 to 2/14 I butted heads with them a lot over this ... and what ever you do, DON'T have their onsite Mechanic to do any work for you ! David will RIPP you off.. He got me , when I hired him to do an engine swap back in 10/13... Hope this helps... -
This gentleman needs his hair stroked.
Dear sir, I'm coming on my 3rd month. There is no way I'd leave mercer and no way I will sit behind 200 trucks to get me a load.
I preplan "my own freight" with or without consent. There is no need for permission to load anything if my truck is empty and ready to go.
If I'm switching my truck's heart, colon, or lungs only a real doctor works on it.
I need that warranty for parts and workmanship, period.
If you are clear with the "coordinator" there should be no miss understandings. Now I'm not implying people don't make mistakes but no system and no person is perfect.
I've been driving for a mere 12 years and I can truly say Mercer is 1 of my top 5 companies in the USSteeleandsonfarms, Pound Puppy and CJndaTruck Thank this. -
I agree Lucar, I love it here. Only time I sat for a load was my fault for going to a slow area. Other than that Iam preplanned 90% of the time. I do my own thing and only use my coordinator if I have a problem. I have had a whole trailer with 3 ltl shipments on it. The only time it is an issue is if the customer requires exclusive use.
Lucar Thanks this. -

Is it possible to request a male coordinator?
-
This is probably a dumb question, but what is the difference between male and female?
