Heading into Oregon first time. Any advice

they might as well melt down most of the road signs, especia;lly the ones that say - Left lane for passing only

 

I think those signs are just a suggestion.

 

Welcome to the Red Tag State. have all that taken care of before you get there. It goes without saying. In my day all of my visits to and through the state was a POE visit to verify that Red tag on the front of the truck. Their state, their rules. Beautiful though. It's worth slowing down a little to eyeball the land up there. I might live up there someday if Arkansas does not pan out to well.

I have a poor opinion about the states residents.

 

I might have to chain up on santiam pass but will be empty.... I’ve only done chaining up but that was loaded through donner.... anyone know if chains will even help if I have an empty trailer?

You will be fine. I came over Santiam about 3 a.m. No chains required.
It is only wet now.
