Yes, But they all want 2 years class A experience. That and I stupidly signed a non-compete agreement with my current company. So I’m kind of stuck going flat, van, or refrigerated.

If you really want in with Heartland, use the “back door”. Apply to one of their other companies, only option for ID would be CFI, stay there for a little while, then transfer over. They will put you right in a truck.

Sounds like my ex-wife's resume that I wish I'd seen before we were married!

Right. He wouldn't know all the skills needed to even hook up to a trailer, do the pre- trip correctly etc....

I think insurance wouldn't take him either, so it's not the fault of Hearland.

Tom-Mac Inc. in Houston Texas. Long as you can understand what Tommy (the owner) says on the phone, your quick to guess what the hell he wants when you don't understand what he wants, can settle for making maybe by now $18 an hour and think you can handle pulling a stretch float, put some holy water in the pee cup he will hire you. Probably on the spot. You'd be local though, in whatever you could afford to live in.

If you would have read my post you would know I wasn’t worried about driving with a trainer. I’d just be wearing a GoPro all day. I was complaining about having to attend a CDL course so that the company could indenture me for ONE year because I was forced to attend said course even though I already have a class A CDL.

I have 6 months of successful Class A driving around four years ago. I found a job of opportunity to get me away from a toxic dispatcher.
Before trucking I inspected naval engineering equipment. Pre-trips are a joke compared to the intrusiveness of those checks.

As we were discussing on another thread what does '6 months' mean?

    Or,

Go up to a driver and he says 'I got 30 years, clean record'. What does that mean? Driving around a corn field in rural Eastern Illinois and some county roads? Never going by a weigh station, driving only Summer and early Fall. That's 30 years?

You say 6 months. Ok, my questions:

    1) miles driven
    2) areas driven
    3) all interstates or by ways too?
3a) exp driving nights or only daylight?

    4) what calendar months were those 6 months. Ex. April to Oct is not the same as Nov to April
    5) where was this driving, rural areas or cities. Experience in NY, PA, IN Chicago or not?
    5a) Major cities driven

6,) were you switching trailers and if yes how often?

    '6 months' is vague.

Also, 6 months 4 years ago counts a lot less than 6 months 1 year ago.

I’d answer your questions if you were hiring. But I doubt you are.

Comparing me to someone with 30 years driving experience is really poor judgement on your behalf. Do you really believe that is what this post was about. If so, please stop responding because you are showing your ignorance. I really wish I could delete your verbal diarrhea of a post.

There are actual people trying to help. Stop being a troll.

He could have worded it better. Please allow me to try.

I think the issue here is 6 months of Class A experience 4 years ago (if I didn't miss anything). Insurance rules a lot in trucking, even for the self-insured megas (they self-insure up to a point). After 4 years, even with a technical Class A, any mega or major will require some type of training. I will agree that Heartland is being silly with treating you like a stark rookie. However, think of it from their end: 4 years ago you left Class A life for Class B life after only 6 months. To them, you are still brand new. That's why most companies (large or small) require certain amount of experience within THREE years (a few allow more time, some less). Honestly, the only real way you're going to go into Class A trucking again without said training is search hard for a company that'll make a decision based off of the driver's test. If you need retraining from scratch, then so be it. If not, a week or two with a trainer will get you up to speed. All in all, it does not matter that you have a Class A in this case; the matter is how long since you've used it for Class A work.

I suggest you look at other companies (mega or not) to see what they'll offer you. Refresher training is all you should accept, at most.
