My dad has been driving for 25 plus years. He has only driven for himself and he does all of his dispatching. He would like to transition to having only drivers so he can retire! The help we need is how do we do that? Is there any extra licenses we need to have? Is it as simple as hiring a driver? What would be his next step if he wanted to step away but still receive some passive income? Any advice and suggestions would be great appreciated!!
Help! Dad doesn't want to drive any more, he wants to have drivers!

www.OOIDA.com is a business website for the owner-operator and small fleet owner.

There's another website that many 0/0's prefer, but I can't remember the name of it.
OK, here it is thanks to @Blu_Ogre :

The words simple and hiring drivers should never be used in the same sentence. Check with your state trucking association for guidanceAnother Canadian driver and ‘Olhand Thank this.

If he wants to retire, then retire, period. Why open up a can of worms like that?

Finding a driver that would treat the truck the way your dad has would be hard if not impossible to do. Then run the whole thing by his insurance carrier to see how much they are going to charge him for his policy. There are employees files, including drug testing, payroll and hopefully he isn't planning on paying a driver with the 1099 scam. Workers comp and unemployment insurance on the driver.
Bad idea.TheLoadOut, Another Canadian driver, Diesel Dave and 2 others Thank this. -
And risk a lawsuit then lose everything he has worked for all his life.TheLoadOut, Another Canadian driver and Milr72 Thank this.
