Man everyone that is bashing CC is basing it on the wage. It is valid from a drivers point of view but as most people that are "employees" and not business owners they fail to see the entire picture.

    1. As a felon, what are your chances for a career in any field? Construction maybe....:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559: Gonna do this when you are 60? Probably not.
    2. How many trucking companies will actually give a felon a chance? Not many.
    3. Who is taking the risk? It certainly is not the felon.

It is kinda like those high interest loans where the person with the bad credit has to pay more interest because they are a higher risk. I applaud CC for taking on that risk to their business. People fail to see the costs associated with this risk to the company but what they get is people willing to work and get their life turned around.

If they are driving team and getting .10 per mile for all miles that is equivalent to .20 for miles driven if the driver drives exactly 1/2 of the miles. How is that so bad compared to some that start newbs at .22-.25 per mile based on the risk the company is taking in hiring a felon? I can't recall where but I remember seeing that CRST paid new teams .26 per mile and that was split between the 2 drivers. Not much better than CC if that is true because I can't remember where I saw that.

People are quick to bash without thinking the whole thing through.

    20¢ to the truck.

    They run teams.

    That's 10¢ per driver.

It is my understanding that anytime you run as a team they split the miles evenly. The last time I teamed we split 47% of the income to the truck as well as 47% or the cost. Worked out to be about 68 cpm. The truck ran day and night with 1 day a week off.

20 cpm is way low but it beats doing time in the hole. There are companies that some say offer a second chance to a felon and there are some that say that company is taking advantage of the felon. I don't know their hearts. I only know that we all have to start somewhere. Putting a year in with Carolina Cargo should be as easy as standing on your head for most felons. Prison is only prison if you let them control your mind.

And now for a prison story. The prison in Tipton, Missouri is a large place that houses a little over 1200 men. Most of the men live in 100 bed housing units. No bars just open bays divided by concrete walls that are only about 6 foot high. From the top bunks you can look around. You get use to it. Anyway, they decided to have a "Surprise drill". Oh, gee what could that be. A fire was started in the yard and all of the alarms start going off. It seems that someone had started a fire and now was attempting to escape. We all had to quickly and quietly return to our area and stand by our bunks for an emergency roll call. Guess what? We were all there. No one had escaped. Who would have tunk it.

So the next day I am talking to the guards and I complain about the lack or thought that went into the emergency drill. I told the guard that we all knew what to do during an escape but since we where in the middle of Missouri not a one of us knew what to do during a Tsunami. I even drew a picture of me riding a surfboard over the fences as this giant Tsunami wave crashed over. The guard had no sense of humor. (I run into that a lot, maybe I find humor where I shouldn't, noooooo) So, he takes me to see the Warden who does have a sense of humor. She actually voted for me while I was there. So I didn't get into trouble, the guard tried to make it into an escape attempt because of my drawing. So, back I go to the housing unit. Where Christmas was being celebrated.

The Next day was December 26, 2004. The Indian Ocean Tsunami hit. The earthquake-induced tsunami resulted in at least 155,000 fatalities, 500,000 injuries, and damages that exceeded $10 billion. Also, it is estimated that 5 million people lost their homes or access to food and water. I pointed out to the guard that it was all his fault. Had he only listened to me they would have been spared.

Just a coincidence? Why risk it? If you see me out on the road, buy me lunch and stay on my good side. :yes2557:
