Do you want to haul containers of the ports? If you want to haul out of Baltimore you can try getting in touch with Ringer, DDI, A.H. Gardner, or CSX. I think CSX is looking for trucks in Philly, I'm not sure. They are Owner Operator positions to my knowledge.

Two other companies are Comtrak and Triple Crown.

At Comtrak we do railyards. To my knowledge none of our drivers do ports. Don't think Triple Crown does ports either but could be wrong. Eagle Systems is another. But I'd check on Comtrak. No forced dispatch, work what schedule you want, home every day, Qualcomm in the trucks and owned by the Hub Group which is one of the largest intermodal companies that gets pulled from the rail. People always knock it but if you know what you are doing there is alot of money to be made. Any questions just message me. Good luck.

Hey Steve, we are neighbors, lol.
There are many companies here that haul.containers. It depends where you want to pull from. S. Phila and Morrisville and Bethlehem are where the railyards are located. Ports are in Phila.
Companies include comtrak, bridge terminal transport, arl, csx, container port group,
land transport, cti, jb hunt, triple crown, and I am sure that there are more that I'm not thinking of now. From what I understand, roadone, ddi, and farruggio's might not be too good. I am not sure about the others listed.Last edited: Dec 30, 2013

Hey dgman, which rails do you run out of? Could I ask what (you) and the other o/o make after fuel?
I am looking to do the same as the op. -
Someone on here also said that trans noble is not good.

Hey fld, I run the two Harrisburg railyards, the Greencastle railyard and once in a while when freight is light in the others I'll pull out of the Bethlehem ramp, but rarely. The "easy to deal with" railyards are the two in Harrisburg and the Greencastle. The Bethlehem ramp is a bit of a cluster@#@@ and the workers there aren't much better. That's why I stay away from there. You have to be careful what intermodal company you go with because many run paper logs and will ask you to run illegal or don't care if you have to run illegal to get their work done. Comtrak, we don't have to worry about that with QC and elogs. I will send you a message and give you some more info.
fld Thanks this. -
Hello,
Question for the people doing it. How long are your waiting times on average at railhead and shipper? How many load do you move a day? I know the depends on distance so lets 75-125 miles or whatever your preferred length of trip is?
Reason I'm asking is on one of the load boards the is subscribe to I've been seeing containers out of Newark averaging $3.75-4.30p/m for short distances (125-225).
OP: If I'm hijacking i'll delete. Thanks all -
Just rumor as I've never hauled cans but I've heard that Triple Crown and Comtrak/CSX are the better ones as rail cans go. At least they have a higher ratio of decent looking trucks pulling for them.
