I don't get it. I am rookie I enjoy being a rookie one of the cool things about being rookie is the smirk, pad in the back and the "back in my day" conversations or comments you get from the old drivers. Its fun, if anythings is HELPFUL, you learn a lot about things that you are not taught in school or by your trainers.

I must of been raised weird, cause my Dad always taught me to pay my dues.

Its not too late I am sure the OP will come back to lecture us on proper dental hygiene when on the road. You know, because he was taught properly.

Haven't you heard that nice guys finish last, heck with manners if you don't know how to merge correctly guess there's 2 places you'll end up either part of my trailer or in the ditch, suck it up and do what you need to do just to make it safely home

Thank you for all the replies, polite and otherwise.

First, let me answer a few questions.... I am a new driver (just trying something new after driving a desk for 35 years), but I am not new to trucking. Both of my parents were truck drivers, and my grandfather was Alex Maislin (Google it). New to driving, not new to trucking.

Yes, I was venting. Yes, I'm running low on sleep. Last night, at a "rest" stop, another driver parked next to me at 2am and decided to bang on his truck frame with a hammer for 45 minutes. (more venting)

I honestly didn't mean to accuse "old timers". From what I understand, lacking manners is a trait in relatively new drivers. And I also understand that the roads are being flooded with barely-trained drivers.

At this point, I doubt very much if I'll be sticking with this. I just found out that my "weekends" are 34 hours, I lose my "on-time" bonus every time I get stuck in traffic, my truck will only idle for 5 minutes at a time and summer is coming, and truck stop showers give you athlete's foot.

Again, thanks for all the replies.
