OTR I have NEVER made close to the same as LTL. And I'm not micromanaged what so ever. You dont have to be home every day in ltl if you dont want. Ltl you can make 2000-2600 a week if you wanna run hard on the extraboard. Terminal to terminal drop and hook with no sitting in docks waiting to be unloaded. I'd never go back to OTR

That's weak. Lot of my friends make a lot more. I'm just too lazy to work much harder. I'd like be around 2300.

Well I run 2960 miles a week with $117.50 in drop and hook/fueli
Lol...no need to post my checks. I made $114,000 last year. I'm running 2960 miles on a meet and turn with $117.50 a week in drop/hook/fueling. I don't care or need to see anybody's check. Most of us that are running ltl know what the other companies are paying. We're all within a few dollars or cents of each other. It comes down to if you're happy where you are.

That's highly dependent on you as a driver. If you are in a position where the demand is crazy high you call the shots, or do you rollover and take the abuse? That's one place I see ltl and otr differ . With ltl you can't just swear off at your boss and or refuse to drive the times they want because the guy behind you will be more than happy to take your spot. Ltl is a highly desired job because the pay is fantastic and most people can't handle being gone from home, it truly does seem like the best job for someone who got a CDL and wants a good normal job. With OTR you can swing some weight because they can't really fire you unless they want that truck to sit because not many want the otr job. IV abused more company rules than I can count IV also sweared off too dispatchers, planners, even customers . Not once have I been repremended by those actions. I have a #### good record and I'm a good safe driver I'm just an #######. Ltl seems like a great job but it doesn't really seem like trucking to me personally. It seems more like obedient employees reporting for duty with not any say so . Owner operators with good business skills could probably make more than a ltl driver, who knows iv never been a owner op.

95% of LTL guys are home daily. Most make 6 figures. 95% of the otr fleet are gone weeks at a time and will never see close to 6 figures let alone have the benefits and cheap great insurance ltl offers. LTL is hurting for drivers just as bad as otr. My company is constantly hiring. Guess it boils down to sleeping in a box in a parking lot or your own bed.

The same can be said about oil field guys they sleep in man camps or trucks but make more than ltl. Just because you can't do 8 week tours and you need to be in your bed ever night doesnt mean others can't do them with ease . It's a matter of preference but the ltl guys I spoke with from ABF in Arkansas said it takes a hot minute to get to that 100k mark . OTR reefer is currently paying around 70-80k some guys at Tyson near my location are making 90k. OTR heavy haul guys make #### good money too. Ltl is a good way to make money but I don't believe it's the god of trucking, most guys don't have what it takes to stay gone from home and have a family so LTL is fantastic for them. Software engineers make more than most truckers and are home every night if I wanted a coffee and desk job I sure wouldn't have picked trucking. The home daily obession with a lot of CDL holders is kinda odd .
