I had a super long reply typed out and then I saw the thread date, so I erased it.

Bumping this thread to ask; would they hire someone with 2 years local but non-OTR experience? And it’s been in a 10-speed manual as well. So I’m not exactly fresh out of CDL school.

I had the chillest boss ever in oil field when I started he said make jobs till 10 years reached he didnt care. aside from one actual trucking job rest i just put landscaping he didnt give a crap. They are hard up for workers in oilfield the retention rate is bad like every week someone or multiple leave realizing its not like OTR or whatever they used to I cant say how they all are but my boss didnt care what the drivers did late or not as long the job got done rain, ice, sleet, tornado just dodge it he say lol theres a urgency to please the customer and that is the only bottom line because they can always find another company to service them. Also if you're a real stickler for rules, don't go into oil field, 100 hours is kinda average some guys i always enjoyed around 80-85 any more then that and i got cranky and no one wanted to talk to me not even the boss he knew if there wasn't a monster coffee drink in my hands dont bug me. Though to be honest most them guys rule purely off coffee, energy drinks and smokes id still be there if not the injury i made good money.

Well as long as there’s no risk of DOT, I wouldn’t say I’m a stickler for rules.

What’s a good pay for 100 hour work week? I’ve heard quite a few a few stories at truck stops and pickups/deliveries about oil fields… however almost every single one started stinking like horse #### eventually.
