    I guess I have a lot to learn... like, how does one use 4-5 gears, and not downshift? And like, how does one do that while start/stopping when heavy, from stoplights and stopsigns. Yeah, I'm just a total noob, I guess.

    Start in 2, run up to 1300 shift to 4, run to 1400 shift to 6, 1300 shift to 7, 1350 shift to 8 if you have time.

    Not a fan of the "not downshifting" part, but it is entirely possible to come to a stop in 7th gear and not violate a CDL test "coasting/out of gear" fail.

    You mean you're not supposed to downshift to the bottom gear in high range, then just slip it into the takeoff gear as you roll up to the stop sign?

    Honestly the school seems top notch so far. They don't spoon feed you. But they do everything thing they can to prepare you for tests. Also from what I've heard about their 240 hours with your road trainer. They make sure you do an east coast run, two mountain passes and bump a NE dock.
