Driver facing cameras will be the norm eventually. Sleep apnea tests have already become the norm. You better adjust your standards OP.
Have you tried flipping down the middle visor and seeing if anyone says anything? The ‘17 and ‘18 trucks have them, but if you can deal with it until you get upgraded to a ‘19 or ‘20, they don’t. You will have to deal with a Bendix system at that point though that the 17/18’s don’t have. Just food for thought.
I work for Stevens Trucking in Oklahoma City on the oilfield side and it is a great company! Pay is great and they treat you like family. I know they are currently hiring. Might check them out. www.stevenstrucking.com
Doubtful. Swift had them for a short time, then turned that part off. No more driver facing camera here. Driver facing cameras are a three edged sword. They can show the driver doing something terribly wrong that caused the accident. They can show the driver doing everything correctly. They can show the driver doing normal stuff, which can be interpreted in many ways as a distraction. One might glance down at the dash at the exact moment something happens. One might reach to change the radio channel, check mirrors or any number of things that are a normal part of driving. Then something happens in that split second. Driver facing cameras are a great way to pin nearly everything on the truck driver, especially if truck drivers are the only drivers being filmed. Driver facing cameras are only a good idea if EVERY vehicle is equipped with them as standard equipment that can not be tampered with. Let's see what EVERYONE involved was doing at that critical moment.
