What is that supporting string made of that is holding the part of the loop closest to the trailer?

Well I have a metal bracket/support behind the headache rack I used to support my split a/c when I had it. So I clipped into one of those holes. If clipping on the headache rack it would have sagged to much when I first tried looking for a clip on position

Oh, just re read your post. The circular clamp deal? It’s clipped on with the two main springs. Only thing is, the circular piece is flimsy compared to the one that came with the air lines. It’s just on of those holders to feed electric and air lines along the frame. Couldn’t believe nobody I went to in town had the sturdy one.

No, I mean the string holding the part of the loop closest to the trailer. It looks like you added a second carabiner to the spring assembly, then tied it to the loop at a second point of contact.

I am not even sure if it is a string or rope or bungee. It might even be a metal ring of some sort.

If it is something that will break if stressed, before cutting the air lines, then it will probably be okay. If it will not break easily, then having the air line loop connected twice to the same spring assembly gains you very little extra slack before the air line pops.
