Hi. I was wondering what the home time was like being a new driver for swift?

Call Swift and ask about their home time policy.

    Lockjaw44 Thanks this.

Minimum 12 days out. 5 days notice. 1 day off for every 6 days worked.

    Lockjaw44 Thanks this.

Thanks for the reply. I have been talking with a recruiter. Thought it would be good to ask drivers how often they get home time to reassure the wife and kids that they'll get to see me my first year as a rookie.

Someone posted a qualcomm message up on the facespace page, some DM wrote a message that if you took Thanksgiving off, you will be required to work Christmas.

OK Swift's own policy says you work 12 days, then put in for hometime 5 days after that, last time I checked TG and Xmas were more than 17 days apart hello.

    Lockjaw44 Thanks this.

I'm pretty sure that the message in question was meant for some of the dedicated fleets. I got the same message every year that I have worked for Swift and have yet to miss Thanksgiving or Christmas at home.

    Lockjaw44 and scottied67 Thank this.

That's good to know. Is anybody working a dedicated fleet in Northern California?

I never got home when I asked, I was always between 3-8 days late. If I turned down loads that were not going toward home, I would sit. Almost every time I went home, I had to clean out my truck. Sometimes I would get it back, sometimes I would get another truck, sometimes I would sit for a few days waiting.

It doesn't really matter what the home time policy is if your DM is an idiot and tries to play games every time you try to go home.

    Lockjaw44 Thanks this.

I usually work through the actual holidays and take home time in-between. Like this year.

My home times have either been very easy or very hard.
Lately I seem to never get home on time, but last year I was always home right on time. The year before that I had to fight for it more.

I worked through Thanksgiving and my next home time is set for 12/08. I'll see how it works out this time.

    Lockjaw44 Thanks this.

So Moosetek13 are you able to take your truck home?
I was told that it would be possible to do this and it's big incentive for me as I live a few hours away from the nearest terminal.
