Hey everyone so I have a carrier apu. I'm tired of spending money to keep it running. It's got 17,500 hours on it. I wanna rip it off and put it in the trash can at the fuel pump. Although I'll probably just sell the new parts on it.
I'm gonna get an RV style AC unit with aHonda generator. Question is how long will they last? I'm looking for overall hours will that last more then 1,000 hours? Any info on these would be great!

I have been researching small generators recently, what I read convinced me to purchase a Yamaha when the time comes. Evidently, the internal engine parts in a Yamaha are designed to last literally twice as long as the Honda before requiring service. You may want to look into it.

Hmm 3 year warranty with both but Yamaha is cheaper lol

RV A/C units are typically non-serviceable. Once they fail, toss them in the can and get a new one.
Unfortunately we found out the hard way that RV builders just use whatever they have on the shelves at the time during the original build. That means finding exactly the same replacement parts can be quite a challenge some times. -
Well it's a rv style AC or window unit.

Run a search on here for Honda generator, many on here are using them for many years with no problems(who can say that about their Apu?). I would consider Yamaha to be another top notch brand. People have even been using the super cheap champion brand generator with success. I doubt it will last like the Honda or Yamaha but hey you can buy 5 of the things for the cost of one Honda!
bzinger Thanks this. -
Before I put a window unit in, I would buy one of those portable a/c units that use flexible exhaust ducting on a removable mount. That way you park, put your duct up every time, but you don't have to cut a hole in the body for a window unit or hope you don't drop it if you hang it out the passenger window every night.

I put a champion 4000 with a window unit on my truck a couple weeks ago and it is rapidly paying for itself as I spend alot of time in South Texas .

Jury is still out on the longevity of my champion but so far so good and love the remote electric start tho I'm betting the battery in it won't last long .

The upside to the Honda is they are very very quiet the Honda can also be hooked up to an external fuel tank with the extra fuel tank it can literally run for days without being refueled
