    Hi good evening to all . I'm soon to graduate CDL training & currently looking into a decent starter company. Now I have already spoken to a Western Express recruiter & im pretty much set to head on over to western after CDL training. Some will say it's a horrible decision but western seems like a straightforward process to get into the field hassle free . I am totally aware of western reviews but after doing research on other mega carriers it seems like none of them have the best of reviews. Seems like the industry is saturated with people who complain a lot... I'm the type of person who can deal with small issues without letting it get to me. I'm looking for honest opinions from drivers who currently or have worked for western Express, all input will be appreciated.

    I worked there years ago and have no complaints.
    @bryan21384 worked there.
    Another driver on this forum that just graduated from CDL school went there. He said 'so far, so good' with dry van division.

    Louisville is a good location for different types of trucking; dry van, reefers, flatbed.

    Adrian _95 Thanks this.

    Averitt has a terminal in Louisville. They don't get mentioned a whole lot in training company threads, but they're a pretty respectable carrier. They train, I believe. They hired a guy from my CDL class with zero experience and he enjoyed it there.

    Question:

    If Western is recognized as the place to go when you don’t have options, do you have options?

    I will look into Danny herman trucking , although my mind is set on western at this moment. I'm going flatbed if all goes as planned. I understand that Western may not be a top tier company but with patience & a bit of hard work I think I'll survive. First of all I'm not really setting high expectations. I know I probably won't see 70,000 a year starting out & I'm ok with that hey im ok with 45 -55k as I'm fresh into the industry. I do plan to stay with them for at least a year then see what my options are after gaining a bit of experience.
