Because the trailer itself cost about 3 times more than a van and the units burn diesel which is $4 a gallon. That is from a freigh trate standpoint.
If you were asking about company driver pay for reefers, I don't know that it does pay much more but generally you have to put up with a little more BS when you pull a reefer and if you do something dumb you could lose a load.
On top of that, reefer drivers are the best drivers out there so deserve more $$$$ -
I am with USA and honestly plan on getting a few months exp and moving on. I am looking for home time and pay(I know that is what everyone is looking for lol) but I am looking at refer and flatbed both. Just trying to get informed
-
Some refer loads are heavier and take more time.. You back into the dock you looking at Hour and a half.. Dryvan you can get unloaded quick..
-
look at it this way, everybody eats and food is mostly put in reefers... that is one reason..
another is a reefer uses fuel to keep it cold
and the trailers cost more
and are usually and gross weightaiwiron Thanks this. -
What refer companies should I look at with around 3 to 6months verfiable experience?
-
Central,Werner,Shaffer,Wal-Mart etc
-
Wall-Mart will hire with that little experience?
-
no walmart will not hire anyone with less than 3 years experience from what their drivers have said. and your record has got to be spotless and i mean not so much as a parking ticket.
-
That is what I thought. Same way with Fed-Ex
