This has probably been gone over several times but I think things have changed a little. Seems a little confusing but I am just starting to look at this part of trucking. I see a lot of things like the 34 hours off 10 hour work day and so on. I am wondering how many hours and miles can I get in 1 week.
Hours i can drive per week ????

can do all the math you want, but its gonna depend on your company.... if they dont have anything for ya, then you aint goin anywhere
60 hrs in 7 days 70 hrs in 8 days.... you can only do a reset once a week (every 160 hours or whatever it is, so not once a sunday thru saturday week, an actual WEEK between resets)... miles, well how fast does your truck go. and its a 14 hr work day, up to 11 hrs of driving -
70 hours on duty and driving before needing a reset.
60 hours of driving at an average of 50 mph is 3,000 miles.
That is probably the shortest answer . . . I'm sure they'll be more in depth answers to follow!
That's assuming elogs. If it's paper logs you can log more miles. -
Can you explain "Reset" ? And so I can work a 14 hr day but only 11 hours driving. So every time I stop for fuel , bathroom, loading , will not count as driving time ? but loading and unloading counts as work time ??

Your location says Anjung South Korea..
I'm guessing you're asking about the US Rules/Laws anyway? -
With Anjung-Ri I'm assuming you are military and looking for your career change.
Note that in practical terms you can drive every day, 7 days a week, without ever having to take a reset. The key is that after 8 days you "get back" whatever hours you drove and had On Duty from Day 1. For example, if you drove and were On Duty 8 hours per day for 8 days, that's 64 hours used out of the available 70. On the 9th day you "get back" 8 hours from Day 1, so on Day 9 you start with 14 hours on your 70.
I've gone many weeks without a reset, just using my hours as they came back. Sometimes I'd start a day with only 4-6 total available hours of service, and sometimes I'd start with more than 11. It depends on what hours you used 8 days ago.
For folks that do a lot of long haul multi day trips it is often better to take a 34 hour "reset" when you burn through your 70 hours. That way when you get your next long haul load you don't have to worry about squeeking along on meager available hours, you have a fresh 70 to "run and gun".blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Yes, 11 driving in a 14 'window'. Log fuel, inspections, and some unloading time as on duty. -
He is looking to move back to the us and drive.

Oh yeah looking to move back to the states and hope to get into trucking with my wife, but for now just getting all the info I can. She is from the Philippines but is now a US citizen so we hope to drive as a team. We take vacation every year in Indiana but she did not get her drivers license. She has a Philippine, South Korean and a international drivers license but I checked and Indiana says she has to hold a Indiana license for 1 year before she can get a CDL in Indiana.
I have a good job over here working as a government contractor but just ready to move back to Indiana. We have been here 8 years. I work as an Aircraft Mechanic and think I would like to do something different.
Thanks to everyone on here for their info. -
Do yourself a favor, keep fixing those planes! It must be more lucrative. I'm sure you will make more money in your current profession, and probably do it in a lot less hours per week. Best of luck whatever your decision.
