I'm convinced you just simoly enjoy putting yourself in painful situations. You're constantly moving from one bad environment to the next. You've already been told in your other thread by several people that this is a bad idea. You've also been here long enough to see the endless threads of people already asking essentially the same question and they all end with the same concensus...don't do it.

You can start out slow and easy with Greatwide.
If it's still the same, you buy the truck with Greatwide help and the truck and note is in your name. You can leave anytime you want and take the truck and note with you.
Maybe ask if that's still the policy.

I don't know what age limit the trucks have to be to haul for Greatwide. You can ask.

I say pull tanks. See if you like it. Talk to owner operators there. You don't even have a year yet.

Brother with all due respect this is a terrible idea. The quickest way to go broke out here is to finance a used rig and then go try to live off load boards.... spend your time researching a good company to lease too that has the type of freight you want to haul.. you will be miles ahead at that point... not sure if your mentality of thinking you will become an owner operator that the bs you are going thru right now will make your situation any better.. it won't. The headaches you will indure in this business will make your urrent problems seem like a minor inconvienace... take it from someone that started right where u are at and then jumped into a lease purchase deal , then an o/op and then had my own authority and now I'm back as a company man again, working my way back to my authority.. the business will kick your ### everyday of the week and when u can't take anymore of it it will only get worse...if u don't got 100k in the bank don't even attempt it. I had that and lost most of it , even after being fairly successful for 3.5 years before getting my own numbers... all it takes is a handful of problems to happen all at once and your money will dissappear in a flash... engine rebuilds are pushing 50k now emission problems can be well over 10k or 15k to repair.. if ur buying a 500k emissions rig you are gonna be in it for both of that very soon. Maybe you will get lucky, why bet all your money on that ?

With all that said if it's what u really want to do, I am no dream killer. We all have things we set our mind on.. the best thing u could do is find a good company to lease too. It's going to take alot of research. There is plenty of threads on here that go over what it costs to run a rig down the road. @blairandgretchen has a great one...

My pm is always open if u need some advice . I don't know everything there is to know but I've been kicked in the teeth plenty of times out here and can give some words of experience

You can make a small fortune owning your own truck.

…as long as you start out with a large fortune!

We could just flip it and tell him to do it. Plus he will be very rich. Really rich.

    You're a good man.

I've not figured out @Chi Town Steers yet - closest I can figure is a pinball in a pinball machine.

The momentum and hope is there, but controlled by the person activating the buttons.

10 years in now, and I've much to learn. but time is running out.

I would leave trucking before I bought a truck as a newbie. Load boards have 5-10 times more loads listed than what actually needs to be moved. If you thought trucking companies were ruthless and heartless, the people listing freight on load boards (brokers) make trucking companies look like nursey school teachers. Brokers are sharks, 1/3 of them are genuine criminals/organized crime and they have years more experience in fooling brand new motor carriers (guy that just bought a truck) than you have experience not getting ripped off. They don't pay their bills. That's revenue you won't see for 9 months if ever. It doesn't take a lot of "won't pay" customers before you are agreeing to move freight for the cost of fuel, lose money on the trip.

Almost nobody is making even what a good company driver earns by running load boards as a newbie.

Freightliners are 75-85% of trucks on the road so parts are widely available. EVERY other make has more trouble getting parts. As a driver I loved every Volvo I drove, but they are not very reliable. Everyone I've ever driven had 1 or more electrical issues, but they are super comfortable and spacious inside. KW & Pete are mostly plastic copies of Freightliners but more expensive. I loved my KWs but they were new. Just based on numbers on the road, I'd reluctantly suggest a Freightliner.

I'll repeat I would leave trucking before I would buy a truck NOW. Lowest freight rates in years, over-supply of drivers and carriers even if freight volumes rebound to normal, which is unlikely.
