That’s an easy question, Yo, look, tomorrow you’ll see that I no longer work here.

I worked for one company and one of the drivers had been there 20 yrs.
Real nice guy; no one could honestly say anything negative about him.
Came to the dispatch office one night and handed his truck keys to the dispatcher and said, "I quit."
That was it. Walked away without another word and refused to say anything more.
You don't owe an explanation to anyone. Just quit and walk away.Another Canadian driver, Geekonthestreet, Suspect Zero and 3 others Thank this. -

If it's a local job, quit showing up.

After only one day, it's not like they even need, much less are entitled to, a two-week notice. If it were me, I'd probably call about an hour before my shift, assuming it's a day job, and tell them I quit. If it's a night job, I might would call out sick and wait to speak with someone during regular hours.
As to why, you could be honest with them, which is what I would do. Or, you could just say something personal came up and you can't stay for now. The old "it's not you, it's me" routine. Regardless, if you wanna quit after one day, that's probably not gonna change over time. As another post said, you might not see any of your wages after you quit, so don't give them any more free labor.Another Canadian driver, JoeyJunk and dwells40 Thank this. -
