Here is a new one. My former recent employer has made up a fine schedule to match the CSA points schedule. He puts points on your employee record and takes a "fine" out of your pay. He took $25 from my pay last week because I didn't put a load number on a log sheet. Nevermind the office girls never gave me one.. A few weeks ago, he took $300 from a driver because he got wrote up on an inspection for a missing expiration date on his yearly inspection form. Lets see, the mechanics filled that out.

Would of already turned in my key there.

I would inquire of a local labor board type place about the legality of this.
Step up your game and do thorough pre-trips. including all stickers. Heck make a checklist if you need to.
Pre-trip all equipment before you hook to it.
All that while looking for a new job.dog-c Thanks this. -
Legally they cannot take your regular pay (at least in the states i have worked)
...that's why they attack the drivers safety bonus.
Where i work they use the bonus to intimidate the drivers all the time.Last edited by a moderator: Dec 8, 2013

I think that if you agree to certain things beforehand, in writing, there is a legal basis that CERTAIN things can be taken out of your pay.
I agree with the reply above that you should go to the state labor board. They cannot just take what they feel like out of your pay. -
Shoot my company does it all the time. On imod loads if you don't fill out paper correctly that is going to CAT it want be excepted by them and they take .05 a mile for a month, then of u have a preventable they charge u a percentage of the damages it was a guy at my company that pulled down power lines about 10000 worth of damage company making him pay 100 a week until 2000.is paced off, my truck broke down with clutch they
dealership found crack in my oil pan my company
tried to charge me 500 if i had not put on my
sheets for the shop how much oil i was losing every time i put my truck in shop that is the only
thing that saved my check, my company required
drivers to do progressive shifting and make
6.25mpg if you don't average that a
month the month u don't they drop u at first .0
5, then .10 then terminationif u
don't want to loose money bring your truck in yard they would turn it down to 60 from 65. Then its the miles we drive extra for no pay i had a load paying 1128 but when i put it in gps it was almost 1300 miles and im taking same route they told me i call my dm he said he new and that is what it is so i had to drive almost 200 miles before i started gettin pain. Companies will cheat u but go somewhere else its worse -
I wouldn't even give a dumpy company like this a notice. Find a new job and leave. That is pretty arrogant thinking a driver is going to pay to work somewhere like a stupid lease purchase chump. THEY buy the equipment, THEY hire the drivers, THEY assume the liability. Accidents happen, if a driver costs to much money...FIRE THEM.
LoneCowboy, Logan76, "Hang - Man" and 3 others Thank this. -
my advice dont get arrested making a fuss in the office about deductions. find a better company to work for and forget about the money they cheated you out of. that being said if you think you can get away with it go for it. it will give the other drivers something to talk about in the drivers room. be careful out there

We have good laws in this Country, so check out your Labor Department on your town or State and file a complaint against this criminal. But definitely, find another company and PLEASE name this Carrier in here... That way other drivers will know who they are before signing up with them.
Logan76 Thanks this.
