My wife handles most of the back office paper work such as insurance, compliance and new broker-carrier contracts. I keep a laptop, printer and smart phone with wifi hotspot to submit proofs of delivery, print rate sheets and the like while on the road. I also complete the trip sheets we need for compliance and keep track of all the receipts. It is truly a team approach as I could not run this business without my wife who has a background in business accounting and human resources. Lately she has become my dispatcher making contact with brokers and getting some pretty good rates. She does all this while also running a small chicken farm and supporting a daughter in college who is also building her own business.

About the only things we don't handle in house are taxes, permits (for oversize loads) and factoring.
