Thanks! I will have to work on making sure I have enough room in the fridge for that but thanks for the idea!

I'm not sure what that is. Do you plug the fridge into it and then plug the other side to the inverter? I don't have access to electricity at the yard if it has to be plugged into an outside source.

Yup! Just plug fridge into it then plug timer into inverter. I have mine set to run a few hours on Saturday night and turn back on early Monday morning. Freeze a couple of bottles of water in freezer to help keep it cold during shutdown time.

APU, Opti-idle, or shore power are the easy solutions that do not require you to empty the fridge. They all have associated costs though.

    why?

The only thing that they do is allow more deep discharges and recharges without ruining the batteries.

The best solution is this -

When you park your truck, you take out all of the food that can be ruined and
    TURN OFF THE FRIDGE.

You can fill a couple of gallon freezer bags with ice, that’s actually what I do. Bonus: they don’t leak!

Truck batteries were not meant to be used that way, unless you have an APU, which will turn on automatically and charge the batteries when low. Your truck batteries will go dead every time without a setup like this or similar. You can park near an outlet and use a long extension cord to keep your fridge running.

You'll end up losing cranking power in the winter with them, marine batteries aren't built to work that way, I've had several different things with those pile of garbage in them.
