He should have dropped a gear and put the hammer down and probably would have made it.

I understand the sign and the restriction but why don’t these cities fix these spots so trucks don’t get stuck?

    OldeSkool Thanks this.

In addition to being illiterate, he might also be one of the lazy idiots that can’t be bothered to wind the landing gear all the way up.

Funny story about that. I had one this week do a trailer swap and he left his gear only half down and pulled out. The moron he was swapping with couldnt crank it up due to the weight or just being lazy and started to try and slam his truck back into it anyway. He ended up ripping the entire front of the trailer up. Also bent the #### out of his 5th wheel but did get it under, though high hooked it. Moron walks back, hooks up and pulls forward only to drop the trailer and collapse the gear and roll the whole trailer to its side as he went to turn. Guy took off like a bat out of hell being chased by demons.

So what do you think the fix is? It is not as easy as you would think, the only "fix" for this is raising the road to meet the height of the tracks, it looks like there is parking on the one side that would be completely cut off, and there is more than likely a bunch of utilities under the road that would need to also be moved. The real fix is getting drivers to pay attention, change the training and actually train drivers to pay attention.

Could always get rid of the train and pull the tracks up... ;):p:D

Seriously though, I agree, the driver probably saw the sign and couldn't read it. But, that left arrow with a red circle around it, should have been a clue. But he probably thought... "That sign cant mean me... my GPS said go that way".
