You're more "app savvy" than I.

I deleted all the ancilary crap I could from my iphone that I know I'll never use. The only thing extra is weather radar and google maps.

I carry a gauge and a 50 ft air hose but find it easy to hit the tire check lane at the fuel island at Loves about once a week..I always have about 15 credits for free tire checks.
By the time I fuel, get receipt and hit the restroom the tire guy is done.....It saves my old knees airing up tires and it is free!
Air hoses at most truck stops are hard to find anymore...

Just press your thumb against the side of the tire, very accurate way of knowing if you have a low tire.

Using a big head rubber mallet one can tell if tire is below 80 psi when thumping.....or plus 100 psi

I listen for the pitch, like a tympani(variable pitch drum), and it works better when the tire has been run recently,(warmed up) like a midtrip check or when you get to the first drop on a peddle (multiple drop) shag run.

20 minutes rolling is enough, now if the tire is really low,or flat, it will be low to no pitch at all even if cold, also, tires with less tread depth will have a louder sound and pitch than tires with deep tread.

I carry a Milton gauge, and even then, a tire that doesn't sound right is likely to blow even with the correct pressure, have had that happen, on occasion.

I have a setup with a valve and gauge but never hooked it to the glad hand hose. This was also made by Milton and used to stay away from the tire being inflated. Remember, you don't have the safety cage airing one up with the truck along the road or in a lot. Just take care when inflating to not be too near the tire and to listen for problems, if you hear a sound akin to corn popping, run away from it. A tire on a truck blowing out has been cited in overturning an adjacent car traveling in close proximity to the blowout in more than 1 instance.

I also do the "valve stem spit test". Just to make sure a valve isn't hanging up after airing a tire up.

I love watching the moron truckers who have all supersingles go around thumping. Thumping is just meant to see if the tire is flat or going flat and needs further checking with a guage. But with supersingles, you don't need to thump it to know it is flat, same as a steer tire lol.

What you need, I saw this trucker with a full on gun belt with holsters for his 2 gauges, one digital and one analog, thermometer, same, on digital one analog. Now that's a prepared trucker right there.
