As a former driver getting back into it. My advice is the same as anywere life might take you.
Just be careful out there. You will meet many great people out there. And yes you will meet a few people who are less than desirable.
Be careful of the people who aren't drivers walking around the truckstops and I am not talking just lot lizards. They are all less than desirable and should be advoided at all costs.
You will get a lot of harmless flirting when out there. What used to drive me crazy was when problems came up. Like when my tandems wouldn't slide and I am bouncing back and forth between on the ground and the cab. Then I saw a few times a lady having the same problem and 20 drivers are their to help her and all she had to do was stay in the cab and move the truck. So I guess it has its advantages lol
But like I said BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!
How is it out there for us girls?

You characters behave.millsjl01 Thanks this. -
im getting ready to start school with Southwest in phx, & have 2 prehire letters to May & Werner. Being a female, I also would like feedback as to what I can expect from these companies and the reception from the industry to more females entering it. Thanks to anyone...

Dude keys up the mic and goes on for three uninterrupted minuets about what he'd do to her. Very sexually frustrated stuff, kind of made me as a man a little frightened to be even near this sicko. We're talking bondage BD/SM crap here.
She gave him the business right back, I'll spare you the details, but it involved a tire knocker being shoved sideways up where the sun don't shine.
I'll tell you some of the toughest ###### women I've ever met are in this field. You gotta be tough or you ain't gonna make it.
What's tough? Willing to live with having to take the business from a super trucker and give it right back. Nothing will shut up a pigheaded idiot like a quick retort.
I'd sight another experience I had in the "FFE driver academy" if I felt like publishing the short story, but I'm not in the writing mood today. Anyone familiar with the FFE academy will know Ms.Conie.
She was a hardcore vet-driver with 20+ years under her belt who got off the road to become one of the coordinators over at the FFE driving academy.
You didn't screw with Ms.Conie because she'd crawl all over your ###. It wasn't a smart thing to do, and someone tried doing it and was only around for a very short period to regret it. I kept my head down and mouth shut around her, personally, but she was always super nice to me whenever I saw her after I got out.
I'd say the biggest danger to women, from what I hear, is the boys.
Carry Mace, flashlights w/e you need to defend yourself. Use the seat-belts to double lock the doors, or get straps to do it (thread the seat-belt through the door handle/chain them together on the inside) as an added measure of safety. Park in well light areas.
I'm speaking from a laymens point of view, I'm a man. These are just common sense type tips. -
