Mine looked like it had almost all the original tread. But since it was over 100K the company had me get a new one. (the other was changed recently due to damage).

How many miles do you put on your steers?

100k sounds about right. I asked Pete at Complete Tire about class 8 trucks. He also said that around 100k or a year of driving is about average for most of the tires.

You could get twice the wear...if you turn them inside out before washing!

150,000 to 200,000 on a highway.truck is not unusual if the truck is well maintained and driven correctly.
My last set of steers lasted.140,000 miles but I had an alignment problem that I was unaware of.
My current steers have 50,000 miles on them and still have 80% of the tread left on them.
As long as I stay on top of the a alignment they'll probably go 200,000.Straight Stacks, volvodriver01 and otherhalftw Thank this. -
February will be a year for all my tires. The steers look fine to me 6 of the drives are still in great shape and tread. The 2 outside tires passenger side are getting shredded recently for some reason. The insides were shredding up until the centramatics were installed, now the outside are doing it. Anyway that's something it will be going into the shop for next week. I watch the tires like a hawk. Looking at them at every single stop and monitoring their pressure daily.
This is gonna sound funny, but I think the tires get a little 'tired' after tens of thousands of miles, they get that frumpy saggy bloated look as opposed to brand new tires that seem to 'stand at attention'. The sidewalls must lose some stiffness I guess. That may be a reason I might be inclined to change the steers next spring or so, just to break them in for the fall and winter weather next rather than push the ones I got now too long.... -
I have only been getting just under 100,000 out of steers. I think because of my steer axle is normally over 12000 lbs. Recently I upgraded to a load range G, 16ply tire which is lot stiffer and little more money but hopefully get few more miles. And they no longer sag but stand at attention.
nofilter and scottied67 Thank this. -
I always get 160,000-185,000 out of my steer tires.
scottied67 Thanks this.
