I generally take a week off at Thanksgiving and then almost a month off for Christmas. My wife and I have put away enough to cover all bills and such for the last two weeks of December and first week of January. As a flatbedder, rates tend to drop significantly at the beginning of November and get worse through December. I'll be back out on the road, rates permitting about the second week of January.

I agree with you and I wasn't trying to complain was trying to understand. I'm new at this side of the coin. I did call them back and told them I had trucks in the area but if they wanted to move it it would be this much until after Christmas. He called me back told me to put it on hold until the 27th. Still on my desk waiting to go. I don't mind anyone taking off for Christmas or any other time they want to was just seeing how many do. When I drove it was constantly, not because I needed the money but because I had no family and loved the road. Would still be driving if it wasn't for health issues.

I wouldn't expect rates to fall back to normal until after the first.
