I'm getting confused looking at no-CDL-yet options from the megas.
Prequalify form on Swift asks for 2 years (Zero! Whoo-hoo!!)... but then their jobs application form asks for 3 years.
CR England mentions something about 1 year, something about 3 years, something about 5 years...
Driving record:
Points: zero
Moving violations: none, ever
Citations: littering infraction, 8 or 9 years ago
Accidents:
2 years:
clean
3 years:
1.5 accidents - 1 real low speed no injury "genuine" accident... 1 parking lot scuff on a piece of plastic trim that I left a note about like an honest person (stupid mistake, this honesty thing ), waaaay below DMV reporting threshold, offered to pay but guy REFUSED and started trying to extort me for $2900 with some bogus quote that included line items from the opposite end of the vehicle. Guy tried to report me to cops apparently, and that never went anywhere and they never even talked to me... but my DMV printout shows an accident report made.
5 years:
+1 unpreventable: Rear ended stopped at a light by an uninsured motorist who left bogus info and fled the scene... not sure how easy or hard it is to prove the unpreventable-ness of that though, since the guy was apparently never found. Insurance paid out and didn't hike my rates though, and no points so I guess there's that??
Injuries: never
DUI: never
Criminal record: virgin clean
How many years of accidents do megas REALLY look at?

Your record will not be a problem .
But going to swift or cr will be.
Please let us know where you live and Chinatown will give you some great information on companies in your area .TravR1, Aamcotrans, Adieu and 3 others Thank this. -

Don’t see much issue there, except for CRE and Swift - shoot for the moon and you’ll hit the barn.
- aim for the barn , you’ll hit the outhouse every time.
Good luck.otterinthewater, FlaSwampRat and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
If you are single you can live out of the truck for the first year so you can pick the best training company than move on to greener pastures.
Whatever you do don't lease until you work for a company at least a year.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
And is my record clean-ish enough to pick and choose?
PS my employment record is.... spotty... though. 1099's, cash work, fixing and flipping musical instruments under the taxman's radar, etc.faux_maestro and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Yes you can choose the company you want.
Chinatown is the expert in companies. It really depends on the trainer you get. Some see you as a way to increase their paychecks and some care about you learning how to do the job.
Companies need a ten year work history so if you have 1099 need the form or a tax return. Sometimes they accept a notarized letter from someone who knew what work you were doing or if you were unemployed. It's very important to get all that together before you start the process.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
This is a big problem with the Mega’s. -
You might look into Prime in MO or Stevens in TX.
