currently my average week I make 1525 gross I pay 0 dollars for health insurance and have a pretty decent 401k 100% of 4% of salary. When I go home for 4 to 5 days once a month or so I usually still net 650 dollars that week. I usually never make under 1475 for a full week out on the road and have seen checks up to 1800. They pay the premium for health insurance for you and your family. I’m just curious what do you drivers that have to pay premium pay for you single or for you and your family? Is this a pretty good place I’m at? Really I’ve only worked at 2 companies so idk if I can find a better company if I tried.
How much do you pay for health insurance at your company? Is this good?

Im retired, so this question really don't apply to me. Since I am a Vet I can use the VA system as insurance. Their insurance satisfies the obamacare mandate. It really only costs me a co pay.
I bring this up because single drivers with no children to insure that are Vets can save MAJOR bucks on health Insurance through the VA. Example? One of my meds is a box of Novolog pens. Costs me $8 copay, you go to a pharmacy and that box can cost upward to $500. I just got out of surgery at the VA. I still have not got my final statement on that. last surgery I had my co pay was under $50 bucks.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Kind of a funny post if you just asking about health insurance drivers pay. Most have to help pay for their insurance. So If you getting your for free that's a good deal. I pay $50 a week for single person.

My health insurance premiums are also free.
I have $4 prescriptions.
BUT.
The reason for that is we have a $3500 deductible and don't have a co-pay.
The first $3500 is on you... except for preventive care, such as yearly physicals and scheduled
Colonoscopies and such.
If you are generally healthy, it's great.
If you get the sniffles, and run to the doc all the time... not so much.
A few years ago I had surgery for a gall bladder that went WAY WRONG and was in hospital for on and off 5 months. They nearly killed me.
That bill was almost $500,000.
I paid $3,500.bottomdumpin, RussianBearTruckeR and Chinatown Thank this. -
Unless you have no debt, and have a decent nest egg.
I got very sick and our short term was pitiful.
It said 66% of avg wages. Ok.. cool.
That would have still been $1000/week.
Little did I know that they deemed OTR drivers made $500 a week. So, I get about $300 BEFORE taxes.
I ran through my entire savings to keep from losing my house in the 5 months I was out.
Get some.
Long Term is really used for when you are getting older.Last edited: Apr 12, 2019
