ALL miles, ttt (to the truck after LS’s cut).
Then profit/expense , which is the huge variable.
2015 1.67
2016 1.90
2017 2.10
So far this year - 2.75
But then the profit and expense ratio varies, for me it’s swung on 50/50. But this year there’s no equipment payments - so it’ll be 65/35.
Which makes for higher personal profit to pay tax on.
So, as I see it, there is little hope for a “hard number” -
If so you are a driver also. So you are an owner driver.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
This should help clarify.
Not me, BTW. -
I'm a carrier, I pull dry van. Nothing specialized. I find and book freight myself. I don't need a factoring company. I don't use fuel cards. I never fuel at major truck stops. I file my own IFTA and other road taxes myself. Have a fridge, TV, stove and Xbox on the truck so I don't need to spend $$$$ on fast food and lot lizards.
My numbers indicate that I have to generate a bare minimum of $4,600/wk in revenue, every four weeks, to sustain my business. I typically do $5,200/wk. But many times I've done $6,400/wk, easily. But I run in a "unique" way.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -

The phrase "...I make such and such after expenses, is how a teenager looks at the world"
I paid my rent, paid my electric bill, I paid my buddy back... and now I have THIS much money to spend on video games. That's what I hear when truckers use that line "after expenses"
Your expenses aren't JUST expenses. They are OPERATIONAL COSTS. They are a part of your business. All of your business needs should be outlined in a budget, including your pay to yourself as an employee should be an expense item. Your pay, taking into account your personal expense and how much you would ideally like to have to play with as well as put into savings. I can go on and on, but I will stop here.ramirezbrandonc Thanks this. -
If I needed an STD.. I still would have to invite in a lizard, however.
