That's some funny stuff right there, driver! Drivers cannot agree on anything let alone refusing to work until the wages go up. BTW, even $6 an hour to someone who has been working hard at finding a job and on the brink of living on the street is a blessing. So, yes, peanuts beats the fire out of eating hopelessness. That bitterly harsh taste and especially the complete destruction of one's self esteem makes any job for any pay worth more than most people, hopefully, will ever imagine let alone experience.

Not picking on you Mark, just cannot figure out how to include multiple quotes.

Multi quote : hit the : + button next to the Quote button.

Every once in a while a message comes across the qualcomm regarding info on local truck driving work, pay and hours etc. Usually it is an offer for a yard jockey $12 bucks an hour 12 hours a day, must have pristine driving record lol. Seems to me that would be the job for those with less than desirable records where they could 'hide' out til some time passed by and things fell off their MVR's
In Phoenix the yard jockeys have a reefer van set up in the yard that they hop into every chance they get to cool off.

Frank, I agree with you 100%. Also where you live makes a big difference. 12/hr in parts of Idaho would be a killing. My rent there for a lake side with a million dollar view was only 600/month. For the same size place in LA would be over 3000/month... So location makes a big difference.

When I did local I was never paid right until I went and talked to the fleet manager. I got $12 hr plus mileage OTR 300mi+ pay.

For $12hr you better off working at costco. I'm just saying that's not good pay for a truck driver. You can get a non cdl driving job paying that

Frank I agree with u, but for the person who start this thread why would u take a pay cut to $12hr if you want to go local shop around for other companies that pay more for local gig

True. For an experienced driver with a reasonably clean mvr there should be plenty of better paying work in most parts of the country. I imagine most are not advertised so it would take some work to find the work.

I am a local hourly driver for Swift.... My paychecks are about the same now as they were when I was an OTR driver (it is more than the $12 per hour that others have talked about). In accordance with federal regulations, I am limited to a 60hr work week and can deliver freight within a 100 mile radius from the terminal.
