I had some jackwit leave the trigger locked on the pump one time and it turned on full blast before I had it in the tank. Lesson learned check that before pumping. Only spilled 1 gal maybe but I still did the right thing and cleaned it up

Those are auto shut off quick release hoses. They are supposed to shut off immediately as soon as the connection is uncoupled.
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Trying to make the highest level in points. Although it killed his fuel bonus.

Yep. Not sure why that safety feature failed, but I do know this TA has had ongoing issues with their fuel pumps. Completely refurbished the fuel lanes a few months ago, but now they "have a leak" and will need to redo it again. I didn't get into the details with the manager and I don't pretend to know best practices in fuel island technology. They did have to engage the emergency cutoff switch when the spill happened.KB3MMX Thanks this.

I've never even drove off without putting the fuel cap back on. (big truck or my daily) Much less leave the pump handle in. I know everyone makes mistakes, but seems returning the pump handle should be on a check list somewhere.KB3MMX, MartinFromBC and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Yep, along with screwing on your fuel caps.
That being said I have already told the manager that if she can't clean up the idiocy of 30 minute breaks in the fuel islands I will take my business elsewhere. That's considerable, considering that I run a lot of local and the majority of my fuel is purchased here.
She quibbled. I won't. -
I had that happen to me one time, where the pump didn't shutoff when tank was full. I was washing the passenger side window, and some guy just happened to be walking by just as it started happening, so only a few gallons spilt before getting nozzle shutoff. Went in and told them at counter, and their response was "Yeah, that's happened a few times at that pump this morning!" So instead of shutting down that pump, let's just let it keep happening. But of course they don't have an issue closing the fuel aisles every day during the "Lunch" rush to clean them!

Don't you ever wear gloves? I cant imagine grabbing a filthy diesel hose and then grabbing my door handle, steering wheel, gear shift, etc. etc. etc.J Rich, KB3MMX and snowman_w900 Thank this.

The one time I really jam that fuel in there is when I'm getting the last cheap fuel before Northeast or Cali. You best believe I'm gonna stuff every last drop at Raphine or Kingman, cause I hope to make it back to there without refueling.

I really liked my last truck. Don't know why the boss ordered it but it was 300 gallons. 350 would have been perfect for the round trip.
