Also, it is first empty first choice. Not first come first choice.

I heard it helps if you take your Coordinator a fresh hot apple pie once a week. Any truth to this President Prick ?

So, if you leased on and stayed in the 37 state Mid America fleet this would never come into play ?

Right. You still have the issue with people setting preferences too tight. But they won't get bumped back in line.

There is an exception to this. Short haul loads. Example: tampa to orlando 90 mile load. I can try to get that as a short haul asks maintain my previous empty time, but the only way im getting that load is if every one passes on it as a regular load. Basically the loaf will run the board twice, first as a regular load, and if no one took it, then again for those of us committed to it as a short haul. If i got one as a short haul, when i emptied my empty time would revert back to the last regular load i ran.

The ones with less board skills think this.

This begs a few questions. I'm going to use CJ as an example because in this thread (or maybe another) he mentioned he was up high on the western board because he had been running in the west since December. If CJ just wanted to take freight in the western 11 states, theoretically could he decide to never drive east of Colorado and remain #1 on the western board indefinitely? So it wouldn't matter if he was at home or out running freight, he could cherry pick the best loads from atop the number 1 spot as long as he doesn't leave the western 11? How long would it take to work your way to the #1 spot? Seems like months, maybe years, right? There would have to be a few guys exclusively running the western seaboard and taking advantage of this, staying up at the top of the list...

Another question, about the main board this time. How far out from a load can you be to still claim a place in line after emptying? Err, maybe that is a poorly worded question. Here is an example: Say you deliver in Columbus OH on Monday morning at 7am. Of course, you are going to be higher on the board than another guy that was unloaded at 7:05 in Columbus. However, from your receiver in Columbus, you aren't going to get first dibs on loads coming out of Georgia right? Even if you were empty before people in GA that morning. How far out is that radius? And can you just tell your coordinator to set your D/H radius at 5,000 miles so you match up with loads all over the country? Then you can book a great paying load ahead of time from far away. (because you are high on the list) Then just work your way there....

One more Q: I've been stuck empty in the LA area since Monday afternoon. I've committed to a few loads that looked promising, but the coordinator says they aren't "running the board" yet. Why are these loads even listed? Is it to get more attention for these loads? ...so more people have a chance to swoop in and run them? Seems like it would be best to encourage people that are already here to run them, and leave drivers that are elsewhere to run loads closer to them.

Question1, the western board has its own load order. He couldn't always be #1, on the western board, but might be #1to head east. ,
Question 2 , there is really no limit, your unload time determines position. Although unlikely someone going from Ohio to Ga empty.

Question 3, they get the loads and they. And put them on board. Why they don't run i don't know. Your situation on the west coastvisnt unusual. One reason I stopped going out there. Takes some shine off that high dollar load doesn't it?

What skate said. I change my preferences almost daily depending on the area in going to. And in this market i so end up sitting a bit. The economy sucks. There are more tricks than loads, so bad areas like or west are ridiculously bad right now. And great areas like chicago are only so so.

Everyone has to adjust for today's market realities.
