A crowd estimated at 500 people demonstrates against segregation at Howard Johnson's Restaurant on the Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard on August 12, 1962. There was also one right off I-85 in Durham NC on Hillandale Rd. Had a motel too....There was a Howard Johnson’s on RT. 10 in Whippany, NJ also when I was growing up. -
