So all the money I save from not having a credit card and car payment are now being rolled over into my mortgage payment. If I can get it paid off by next Christmas, I will save about $23K in interest over the life of the loan (which would be an additional 22 years). It's one of the main reasons why I just bite the bullet and ride around with my windows open when its 100 degrees out. I try to convince my wife that there is a method to my madness. I am sure she will once again fantasize about my premature demise this winter when she has to sit at home wearing a hoodie cause I am too much of a Scrooge to turn the furnace on.

Life’s too short to roll with no A/C or delay putting on the heat.

Mrs. McUzi gets cold easily, my winter would be very lonely if that heat wasn’t turning on in October.

Only need ac for 2 months in the northwest. Or well, it just sucks a lot for 2 months, i'd use it for 4 months but I hate any temp above 40.

Air is out in my 15 year old honda. 2 hour job, i could do it myself but the part is 400 bucks for OEM and not some rock auto knockoff. Dont have to recharge system or anything. 2k.

No thanks, paid 8k for the car. Ill roll the windows down and suffer instead.

Remember this......nearly all of us old timers grew up without AC in the car, and some of us without AC in the house. And, apparently, we survived and did just fine.
    It ain't no big deal.

I live 13 minutes from work and that is all that car gets used for. It's not ideal, but then nothing ever truly is. I grew up in Europe where they still don't have AC.

You may want to do some math and figure out if slowing down paying off the mortgage in order to pay cash for the car will save more in interest over the long run.

When I was in college I maxed my student loans (no interest or payments until 1 year after graduation), then paid for my car in cash. I had an entire year of no interest, then a much lower rate than an auto loan. If your house is on a 4% apr and the car is $30K on a 7%, on a three year note you'll pay about $3,000 in interest. Paying off your house in 5 years instead of 1.5 you'll pay about $2,400 more in interest - saves you $600. As always, the devil is in the details so run the numbers with actual data.
